I have always been interested in pursing a writing career. I received my BA in philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley and intended to continue with a Ph.D. But while studying, I discovered the rewards of helping others when I became a Transfer Student Mentor for the university.
After graduation I decided to explore the possibility of becoming an educator and received my teaching credential from Fresno State University. Shortly after becoming a teacher I was accepted into the Invitational Summer Writing Institute at the University of California, Merced. There I became a Teacher Leader and now am the coordinator for the K-2 writing group.
When I'm not writing and teaching I enjoy reading and living a healthy lifestyle. I read philosophy, especially the Stoics and Existentialists, and literature from the 19th and early 20th centuries. I like to stay healthy by eating a mostly vegetarian diet and practicing yoga.
